PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR NORM DEAN
A Message from Past International Director NORM DEAN
Norman M. Dean, of Davenport, Iowa, USA, served a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs after his election at the association's 68th annual convention, held in Dallas, Texas, USA, June 1985. After serving his term as international director, he has continued to be active in the association by serving in the following capacities: vice chairman, chairman and advisor of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Planning committee, International Board of Directors appointee (1990-91) and Campaign SightFirst International Committee member (1991-94).
A Lion with 100% attendance since joining in 1966, Past Director Dean has held many offices in the association, including district governor, club president and zone chairman. For his service to the association, he has received a number of honors, among them the International President's Torch Award, six Extension Awards, the 100% District Governor Award, seven International President's Certificates of Appreciation, six International President's Awards, and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted to a member by the association.
Past Director Dean is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and holds a Master Key. His wife Shirley is also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to having provided leadership for community and business groups,
Past Director Dean has also served as Trustee and President of the Iowa Lions Foundation.
Past Director Dean is retired. He and his wife have two daughters, one son and seven grandchildren.
