LIONS CLUBS OF IOWA PEACE POSTER CONTEST

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. During the last 20 years, more than four million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

The theme of the 2011-12 Peace Poster Contest is "Children Know Peace." Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate.

This year's Iowa Peace Poster winner is Britney Nath
Story courtesy of Britney's father, Brad Reynolds

The Peace Poster Contest was sponsored by the Mechanicsville Lions Club.

Britney is a student at North Cedar Middle School in Clarence, Iowa. Britney is the daughter of Jennifer and Todd Nath (Mechanicsville, IA.) and Brad and Brandi Reynolds (Tipton, IA). Britney is a very outgoing 12 year old.  Born as the Y2K baby of Cedar County (1-14-00), Britney has always enjoyed using her imagination; whether it be for

making things out of cardboard, pipe cleaners, and some glue, or drawing and painting.  She has always found a way to express herself.

She always wants everyone to get along, so I suspect that this is the motivation behind her poster.  Since she has been old enough to understand the world, the world has been at war, and I think that this is her way of saying "enough already".

Congratulations Britney!!!
