LIONS CLUBS OF IOWA NEWS!

Birdies for Charity to help Reach Out and Read
One of International President Madden's points of emphasis has been to improve reading. At Mid Winter we had a seminar on "Reach Out and Read Iowa". Here is an opportunity to support Reach Out and Read Iowa with your Birdies for Charity pledge! You can do a flat pledge of $25 or more OR pledge a penny amount per birdie(average birdies = 800). 100% of your pledge will go to Reach Out and Read Iowa. And, if we reach $1,500 in pledges we will receive an additional 25% of our pledges going forward. Your support is very appreciated!

HELP YOUR IOWA LIONS FOUNDATION
We as Iowa Lions have an opportunity to help meet the needs of our Iowa Lions Foundation by making an individual donation. For a donation of $20 or more you receive an "I Gave" pin. This year's pin is yellow and gold. A new pin is issued each year with this being the sixth year. Pins from previous five years are available from the State Office or your Iowa Lions Foundation Trustee. Contact your Iowa Lions Foundation Trustee or the State Office to become a donor to support the Foundation.

As we end the year and if you are looking for a non-profit charity to donate money, have you thought about donating to the Iowa Lions Foundation? The Iowa Lions Foundation is a 501c3 tax exempt non for profit corporation. Donations are tax deductible. For donations amounting to $1000 in a three year period, Warren Coleman Honorary Awards, can be awarded. If you are already a Warren Coleman recipient a progressive program now exists. For additional donations in $1000 increments pins showing your level can be obtained. For more information contact us at the State Office.

Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute 2013
July 26-28, 2013 will be the dates for the 11th Annual Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute. The 2013 Institute will be held on the campus on Northwest Missouri University in Maryville, Missouri. This is listed as an Lions Clubs International Regional Institute. Any Lion who has not been a District Governor or a previous attendee is eligible to attend. All Iowa Districts provide scholarships covering registration, so the cost to the participant is travel costs to and from Maryville. In the past car pools have been arranged to help minimize these costs as well. An application form can be obtained from the forms list on this website or from the Lions Clubs of Iowa State Office in Ames. This is a life skills institute being taught using Lions information as the vehicle. Over 750 Lions have graduated from “Great Plains” in the first 10 years.
