President's Message
President’s Message: There is something to be said for good communication. I was intentional in reminding the Club about the meeting at Harrison School November 20, and we had an excellent turnout. Thanks go to you all who were able to be present, but thanks also to Matt Russell for coordinating our visit, as always. Thanks also must go to the teachers and the students who made the presentations, and those who cooked and served us. (I especially enjoyed the story of Pecos Bill and SluefootSue!)
Good communication is important, which is why Communication is one of the reasons the group present October 30 for the discussion of meeting frequency almost unanimously indicated their desire to keep our current meeting schedule. In fact, there were three C’s: Communication, Continuity, and Camaraderie. Continuity has to do with the fact that “if it’s Thursday, it’s Lions.” Not everyone can attend every week, but many have schedules that would mean if they missed one of two meetings in a month, they would only attend once monthly. Using my own experience, I have had funerals scheduled for Thursdays; if that had been one of the two meetings of the month, I would have missed half the meetings. Camaraderie, of course, is just that good time we all have when we are together; those present October 30 indicated that is also important to them.
Dues letters were sent last week, along with a card for your response on the schedule issue. Please return your dues as soon as possible, and be sure to return your card before the December 11 Board meeting.
May you have a healthy and happy holiday season. Yours in Lionism, Ed Breed
